Perfect Pairings: Heini's Gourmet Market Celebrates Ohio Wine and Dairy Month
May 29th, 2009

SUGARCREEK, Ohio. June is Ohio Wine and Dairy month and Heini's Gourmet Market will be celebrating the entire month of June with daily Ohio wine and cheese pairings, and a Meet the Winemaker BBQ dinner and cooking class.

A different Ohio wine and Heini's artisan cheese will be featured every day in June with $0.50 wine samples, specials on wine by the glass and free samples of the cheese of the day. Heini's makes the widest variety of cheese in Ohio, crafting more than 50 different kinds of artisan and processed cheeses including yogurt cultured cheeses, raw milk cheeses, traditional Amish cheeses and a new line of organic cheeses.

Pick up tips on what wines to pair with back yard barbecues and sample Valley Vineyard's just released Cab Franc Rose during the June 18th Meet the Winemaker BBQ dinner and cooking class featuring winemaker Joe Schuchter from the award-winning Valley Vineyards in Morrow, Ohio and Chef Cameron Krahel from the Inn at Honey Run. The Meet the Winemaker event takes place from 6-8 p.m. and includes a menu of roasted pork loin, homemade BBQ wine sauce, bean and couscous salad, fried green beans with bacon, baked beans and wine. Cost is $15 per person. Space is limited. RSVP to Craig Morris at cmorris@heinis.com or call 866-531-OHIO. For more information visit, www.heinisgourmetmarket.com.

What makes Ohio wines so special?
"Ohio is on the same latitude as southern France and northern Italy and has a longer growing season. Many of the wines we stock at Heini's Gourmet Market are from boutique Ohio wineries, and rarely found outside the wineries themselves," says Heini's Gourmet Market wine specialist Craig Morris. "We now stock more than 30 of Ohio's top wineries and more than 100 types of Ohio wine, all available to sample before you buy."

Heini's Gourmet Market showcases local artisan foods and wine with more than 1,000 Ohio specialty foods from more than 200 Ohio-based companies. The Ohio gourmet market is located in the heart of Ohio's Amish Country at state routes 39 and 93 in Sugarcreek. For information call 866-531-OHIO or visit http://www.heinisgourmetmarket.com.
