Winter Grape & Wine Industry Meeting
January 22nd, 2010

Join the entire Ohio wine community for a gathering to learn a little, build internal relationships and participate in planning for a powerful future for the Ohio Grape and Wine Industry – and while we are together, have some fun.

On Saturday, this two day event will feature morning marketing workshops presenting cutting edge information. We’ll talk about social media and discuss alcohol consumption trends as identified by the Neilson folks and from research gleaned from the Wine Market Council.

We’ll enjoy a light lunch. Following lunch, a customer service program, with an emphasis on the upcoming ‘Secret Shopper’ program will be presented.

During the afternoon and the next day, a limited number of industry suppliers will be setting up tables to share their knowledge and products with attendees. Still on Saturday, we will review Ohio wine law in a discussion led by Marc Myers of the firm Blaugrund, Herbert and Martin, one of the most respected liquor law minds in the state. He will be joined by representatives familiar with new changes within the Division of Liquor Control who will also be available to answer questions.

Saturday evening will feature a wine reception where winemakers meet, greet and share tall tales regarding their wines and grape growing adventures. WE ARE ASKING THAT EACH ATTENDEE BRING 2 BOTTLES OF WINE TO SHARE.

On Sunday morning at 10 a.m., the Ohio Wine Producers Association will hold its Annual meeting. While this is open only to members, during the session, we will arrange for those non members who attend the conference to tour at the newly opened Soine Winery which is just a short 15 minute drive from our hotel.

Lunch will feature Nichola Hall from Scott Labs [one of our corporate sponsors] who will be discussing the latest in wine lab techniques.

After lunch, we have planned a winery-grower roundtable to discuss mutually important relationships, provide an overview of the VEAP program, the opportunities presented by OQW program will share an exciting update on the association and Grape Industries marketing programs. Staff members of the OARDC team and Christy Eckstein of the OGIC will assist in moderating the session.

The afternoon will close with a business plan development seminar in two concurrent round table sessions: one for those planning a winery or may have been open only a year or two. This will run concurrently with a second discussion on future items to consider for much more established wineries.

The Dublin Embassy is located at 5100 Metro Place, 43017. ROOM RATES FOR THIS CONFERENCE ARE JUST $109 PER SUITE – HOWEVER, TO GET THAT RATE, YOU MUST RESERVE A ROOM NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 6. The hotel will be sold out, so if you are coming and need a room, do not delay. Hotel amenities include: Newspaper (Free), Telephone, Television (Cable/Satellite), Daily Maid Service, In Room Broadband Internet Access, Coffee Maker, Mini-Bar, Business Center, Wireless Access, Dining Room, Health Club, Hot Tub and Indoor Pool.

Call 1-614-790-9000 by February 6th to assure that you will have a room.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
To register for the meeting go to www.OhioWines.org and click on the icon on the front page to register.

Or complete the form below and fax back to 440-466-4427 with your check or credit card info – if you mail a check, send it to 33 Tegam Way, Geneva, 44041.

The first day is $75 and the second is $100 for at total of $175 for both days. The cost includes all snacks and day time beverages, the Saturday evening reception [you need to bring 2 bottles of wine to share], licenses, meeting materials and hotel meeting room fees.

We chose the suite hotel so that wineries coming with up to 4 people could share a single ‘roof.’ Again, they have offered a $109 room rate if you register by February 6th. REMEMBER TO MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS ASAP IF YOU ARE COMING……..for a supposed bad economy, the hotel is very busy. Dinner on Saturday will be ‘on our own’ – but we are planning to make reservations for a ‘group’ gathering at a nearby restaurant if there is enough interest. When we get closer to the date, we’ll survey registered attendees regarding their interest in a group Dutch-treat dinner on Saturday night.

Please make plans to join us for this convivial and informative gathering of our grape and wine community. You can use it as a mid winter escape to a lovely hotel too………….

See you in Dublin in a few weeks!! For more information, visit
